Phase One West Hollywood Sport reviews
A Good Vibe, But not great
A great showman and quick wit, Ringo is. He surrounds himself with All-Starrs from bands popular in the 1970's and 1980's, such as Mr. Mister, Santana, Todd Rundgren, and Toto. The playlist includes Beatles songs that Ringo sang or could sing, Ringo's own songs (mediocre), and hits from bands the other all-starrs played in. The highlight for me was three covers of Santana songs that showcased the keyboards of Gregg Rollie and fantastic rock-guitar playing from Steve Lukather, who is as good a guitarist as Carlos Santana. The 70's and 80's hits from the other all-starrs were less compelling, but the band would occasionally break into an instrumental enhancement that was tight and good. The members clearly like each other, play, and sing well. The vibe is great, and the show has energy with many high-points. There are old 1980's hits that you may enjoy more than I did. Most importantly, there was a real Beatle up there on stage at 74 years of age, and seeing him was a privilege.
